Friends cut

Hey guys,

Due to my transition and the personal nature of my journal lately, I've made a friends cut. It seems like a lot of my friends on here aren't even using livejournal anymore or, I'm not really sure who's reading which feels sort of vulnerable in the bad way. And I'm just really over filtering any part of my life. I'll probably do another cut in the near future. Please don't take it personal, for real. I'm just basically seeking more privacy, particularly here.

Find me other places if you're wanting to connect.

Love,
Luka

Help the queer kids!

Hey guys,

So this year I joined the board of the Holyoke Youth Task Force. Our main mission right now is putting on the annual Youth Pride Prom, which takes place in Holyoke. I know from talking with youth that this is a really important event for them. It's really an amazing thing. Last year I only got to sort of stop by and hang out for 20 minutes (I just had my tonsils out) but even just seeing the space, that it looked like a real fancy prom, and all the happy youth jumping around, made me all sorts of gleeful.

Each member of the task force has a personal goal of raising 100 dollars for the prom, so I ask that if you can donate like 5, 10, 20 dollars, please do! I know I'd want my queer elders looking out for me if I'd had this kind of opportunity. I'll link the website below, and please just let me know either as a comment or via my email (midnights.sun@gmail.com) your donation so I can report back that I've reached my goal.

Here's the link: http://sites.google.com/site/holyokeglbtqtaskforce/

Oh ps, if you don't have the money, you can get in touch with me about volunteering (planning for the event, being a chaperone the night of, fundraising, etc).

Puttin it out there!

As you all know, I'm pretty desperate and trying to raise money for my top surgery.

As an effort, I am selling dino hats, which I hand make and so can mix and match whatever colors you're into.

So You Think You Can Dance

We're very into that show at my house. Don't knock it til you watch it. I learned.

And I'm a little obsessed with this one number. Thought I'd share:

This makes me smile:

As does this: http://syndicated.livejournal.com/softerworldfeed/94760.html (for softer world virgins, let your mouse hover over the comic once you've finished reading).

Happy 40th Anniversary of Stonewall, ya'll.
I feel it's no coincidence that it is also my birthday.
Which, incidentally, has been a good one.
I have everything I could ever want for it in the bed-boat with me right now.

Lame.

"The President respects the decision of the Iowa Supreme Court, and continues to believe that states should make their own decisions when it comes to the issue of marriage. Although President Obama supports civil unions rather than same-sex marriage, he believes that committed gay and lesbian couples should receive equal rights under the law."

Would this comment ever be made about African American people getting married? Either you support equality, or you don't. You can't have it both ways. Fucking come through for us. Don't talk the talk and not walk the walk.

We won marriage in Vermont!

Vermont will become the fourth state to allow gay marriage, and the first to do so by a legislative vote and not a court ruling.

Republican Governor Jim Douglas vetoed the law when it originally passed.

This time, politicians in both of the state's legislative chambers voted for the measure with majorities big enough to block the governor's veto.
